This painting depicts a little country church protected by the fall foliage of the mountain forest and trees. My wife and I often visit The Great Smoky Mountains for inspiration and the beauty of nature.
The church in the painting actually exists in the North Georgia mountains and was built in the 1890's by the local town's people.
I used Lavender and Purple Floral paints for the earthy shadows and and Deep Reds and Cadmium Oranges for the leaves with touches of Indian Yellow and White for highlights.
My wife has claimed this painting and it now hangs in my home.
Stunning!!
Fabulous! The trees are beautifully done but how you did the straight lines on the church is beyond me. It looks great. Well done!
Thanks everyone.
Barbara, I used an Oil Based pen and a ruler to indicate the boards on the church.
Such precision in that structure! I've never heard of an oil based pen but you put it to great use. Gorgeous trees too.
Great work, as always. And your wife has impeccable taste in grabbing this beauty!
Amazing work!
Beautiful painting Wayne, cheers
